When We WereTiny baby ducks now living on the street,
Waiting for the toss of a few crumbs to eat.
Walking through this life, barely lifting our head,
While our childhood legends are all now dead.
We think we have time, but do we ever know?
Trying to outdo one another, we put on a show.
Where is the realness, does anyone even feel?
Are we all just broken, and still trying to heal?
Where is conversation, playfulness, and touch?
Am I the only one who misses it so much?
Striving for perfection, we can't take a break.
As days disappear, till there's none left to take.
Everyone has struggles, but they carry it alone.
We're caught up in nonsense, and tied to our phone.
We await those big moments, which might never come,
While diverting our eyes as we pass the homeless bum.
It's time to participate in this thing called human race.
If we wait much longer, we will lose more than face.
Walking through this life like that of the walking dead,
And wasting away the hours, until it's time again for bed.
SensualIt is an end of winter's night,
With the moon quite sensual.
It's time to make things right,
Give me a wink and a visual.
A longing for all things exotic,
Leave all those who disappoint.
Wishing for a full night erotic,
With my kiss, it's you I anoint.
Your consent is quite evident.
There's a twinkle in your eye.
So charming and ever the gent,
No matter how time goes by.
There are warm, balmy breezes,
And the night's moon is so full.
No denying not so subtle teases.
In a riptide, I'm caught in your pull.
The scent, the sound, the taste,
Leaves us both wanting more.
One touch and we're interlaced,
Our things scattered on the floor.
In love's splendors, there we find,
True happiness and all sensual.
Return awakened, a calmer mind.
Protecting our time like a rare jewel.

A Sadness WithinBabies not even quite a year old,
Pulling drugs from their mama's bras.
It is a cry for help and old story told,
While randomly stopped by police cars.
A little girl, she must hide the truth,
Afraid of any and all consequences.
Who would believe her in her youth?
She, the victim of such circumstances.
The boy who must hide his shame.
He knows that his plight is so wrong.
Even though he was never to blame,
He bears all that pain for way too long.
For who is there among all of us,
Who doesn't have a sadness within?
The lies, the bruises, the broken trust,
Reluctant receivers of someone else's sin.
Embarrassed, bewildered by such lies.
Searching for ways to make things right.
Stay in the darkness and muffle your cries,
Praying you make it through one more night.
This world is so dark, there's a sadness within.
We must try to make it easier for one another.
A kind word, cent, or smile, a good place to begin,
To help lighten the burdens of our brother.
For kindness given is kindness that gr
PushOh that familiar push and pull.
We've all been here once before.
Love comes on oh so forceful,
Till you're running for the door.
We want what is hard to obtain,
Always up and ready for the chase.
Will we be the one who lies slain,
Or walk away with a modicum of grace?
Kisses on which our breaths depend.
Push me ardently up against the wall.
How many rules can we break or bend?
What will you wager to take this fall?
He's ready for me and I for him.
There's nowhere to be or time to rush.
Everyone knows how you learn to swim,
You take that plunge with just one push.
So there are no victims here tonight.
We give in with all glorious fashion.
Only time will tell if it's wrong or right.
Will it be love, or was it just passion?

NumbI can't help but think of our last conversation.
Even now, those words don't numb the sensation.
Still feeling warmth and excitement when you're near.
I can take the truth even when it's hard to hear.
You've closed yourself off a long time ago,
For self preservation or maybe battered ego.
I can tell that you want me, I see it in your eyes.
Don't confuse me with the past, they're not my lies.
There's a sadness in your eyes that doesn't go away.
At times, a glint or a smile if you're having a good day.
You get lost in your work, for there, you don't feel lonely.
I wish I were that place for you, and think about if only.
Maybe this will never be, the story of you and me.
Or are we just on hold, until these hurts are set free.
Moving on sounds so easy, yet the truth will never lie,
And healing takes it's time, no matter how hard we try.
So many live a life all alone for fear of getting hurt.
Numbing the pain to get by, no dealing with others' dirt.
But that's not really living, I can't liv
BirdmanChiseled cheeks like that of a Cherokee,
Intensity of a warrior deep in your eyes.
Knowing yourself without any apology,
All feelings of the heart you desensitize.
You're keeping your life at its simplest.
You work hard and for very little pay.
Binding ties and feelings are not missed.
Are you happy at the end of your day?
You always give me your biggest smile,
Though I must be sure not to get too close.
We can laugh out loud and talk for a while,
Anything more though would only impose.
Who was it that smashed your dear heart,
Leaving you a wounded, broken shell?
Making you believe in love, only to depart,
Leaving new chances at love only farewell.
I see all the pain in your darkened eyes,
For I too have felt that stinging pain.
At night, do you sleep with your cries?
Do you think love won't be yours again?
You find comfort in your feathered friends,
And adorn me in feathers of violet blue.
In love's truth, everything always transcends.
Don't give up hope on finding what is true.
